Welcome to Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School Kensington. As the principal I am committed to leading a strong, faith-filled community of students, staff and parents in which all know that they belong and are valued.
I belong to a dedicated, hard working professional team. Our staff work together to get to know each student so the instruction and learning experiences provided are relevant and meaningful, ensuring learning growth for all. The teachers set high expectations and provide challenging learning experiences within a contemporary learning environment. Building positive relationships is key to fostering a love of learning at Our Lady of the Rosary and developing capable and confident students who can flourish in the world.
Parents are encouraged to have an active role in their child’s education and in the life of the school and parish. Mutual respect and cooperation between home and school are recognised as essential to school life and in enhancing learning for the students.

History As people of the heart, we at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School (OLR) Kensington continue the ministry of Jesus through the charism and traditions given to us by the daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. Our community draws its inspiration from the vision Father Jules Chevalier had for us, to make the Sacred Heart of Jesus known and loved everywhere.
The school was established in 1907 by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and staffed by the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, who came to Kensington in 1894. The Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart were unable to appoint a principal beyond 2001, therefore the first lay principal took leadership of the school in 2002.
The OLR story is built on history, tradition and heart. It is a story of belonging, growth and achievement. It will continue to be created, shared and passed onto future generations.
Vision As partners in Catholic education, we at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School Kensington strive for excellence in education within a vital Christian community, where all will encounter Jesus and where life is cherished and celebrated. We will give witness to the Gospel message and hold precious the words of Jesus, ‘I have come that you may have life and have it to the full’ (John 10:10).
As people of the heart, we at Our Lady of the Rosary continue the ministry of Jesus through the charism and traditions given to us by the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. Our mission is built on the pillars of:
Faith – Giving us meaning and purpose in our lives and enabling us to help others find meaning in their lives too.
The dignity of the human person – Building community and relationships.
Pursuit of excellence – Supporting our students to strive for personal best and value growth.
Love and service – Reaching out to others as people of the heart, following in the footsteps of Jules Chevalier and continuing Jesus’ mission.
